Experience That I Bring To The Work Of Digital Restoration

I became fascinated with photography and image manipulation at an early age, building my first darkroom with fish bowls and an enlarger handmade with the lens stolen from an old 8mm projector. I later became professionally involved as a photographer for the U. S. Army and NATO during the Vietnam era. My work varied over the years from newspapers to weddings to medical and simple passports.

I also had an early interest in art which led me into painting with acrylics and oils. I loved learning how colors blended and interpreted the feelings of a scene, of learning ways to see the light and the definitions of shadow. While I have not reached the level of expert craftmanship I feel very honored by the people who have choosen my paintings to hang in their homes.

Perhaps as a natural progression in this age of technology I began learning about computers and the art of digital painting. Most of this work has been used in the graphic designs of web sites and simple wallpapper backgrounds for computer screens.

Since the encouragement of an 8th grade teacher I have had a lifelong involvement in poetry. More than just a craft of assembling and manipulating words, it has become a way of looking at and seeing the world. It is an open and opening interpretation of feeling and meaning that seems to inform everything I do. This has resulted in magazine publications and 10 books, the latest being Selected Poems 1963-2003. If you are curious you are welcome to download a free copy in PDF form.
